I have recently received an electronic-mail message from a fonctionnaire at the federal government that did four things at once:

  1. Top-posted
  2. Used HTML
  3. Used colour text (red for theirs, blue for mine, both of which are too dark on a black background – but wait! absolutely everybody uses white!)
  4. Used Comic Sans

I have been procrastinating for years an article to be entitled “Why Your Corporate E-mail Sucks.” Because, almost invariably, it does, and we can blame Microsoft, who destroyed E-mail much more thoroughly than spammers ever could.
